HG Drumline
"Boston's most celebrated, city-wide drumline!"
Julia Mejia, Boston City Councilor At-Large
AGES 10-24
The Hamilton-Garrett Drumline, established in the Fall of 2022, brings the vibrant and powerful experience of the HBCU Marching Band to life. Guided by artistic advisors from the world-renowned Florida A&M University’s Marching 100, HG Drumline honors and preserves the rich tradition of marching-style drumming rooted in Black musical history.
Our drumline celebrates a dynamic fusion of sounds from the historic second-line rhythms of New Orleans, the iconic style of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), and folkloric traditions that span the African Diaspora. Through our performances, we aim to not only showcase the technical brilliance of this art form but also to honor its cultural significance, passing down this legacy to future generations.
At Hamilton-Garrett Drumline, we are committed to preserving the essence of these musical traditions while inspiring pride, unity, and creative expression within our community.
